So you want to know a little more about me?
Well, my name is Bernice, although I’m better known as Bee. I recently joined the Angry Butterfly team in Toronto as VP Creative Director.
Before Angry Butterfly, I was part of the Dentsu Creative team in Toronto as Creative Director, helping build an incredibly talented creative department (while working remotely) and leading several national brands such as RBC and Taco Bell, amongst many others. But most importantly, my goal was to always be a strong female and BIPOC role model, leader, mentor, and advocate for diversity and inclusion within the agency and ad industry.
With over 15 years of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to help build brands for a wide variety of clients in almost every category. From working at larger shops such as Cossette, TAXI, and Publicis, to smaller independent agencies like Arrivals + Departures and Cundari, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some of Canada’s best ad people, while refining my craft as an art director, and winning awards, along the way.
Speaking of the best ad people – “I'm lucky enough to be blessed with the brilliant writing and thinking from my partner, Adam Notzl-Keyser.” – Adam Notzl-Keyser (adamnotzl.com)
Outside of my day job, I co-founded a social advertising network called OPEN CHAIR, which is a Toronto-based network for women+ working in the creative advertising industry who want to support, promote, uplift, celebrate, and collaborate with one another. As an invite-only network, we are committed to creating a safe space for us to connect, share and be heard. By coming together we can make sure our industry is a more inclusive, diverse, and inspiring place to be.
Fun fact: If you've never heard of me, at some point, you have probably heard me, as I am known to have one of the loudest laughs in the industry. Meet me to find out for yourself!
